Touring historic Logan

Hopefully you have had many opportunities to get out and experience a little bit of Logan this summer and that you are already convinced that your next home will be in the Cache Valley! However, if you are still looking for some fun things to do in the area, you might want to visit a few of the amazing historical landmarks that are scattered throughout the valley.

We have listed a few of our favorites here and although this is a good starting point, there are other places that you might be interested in as well (But we thought you might have more fun searching those out on your own)!

Blue Bird Café

Built in 1914 as a candy factory, the Blue Bird Café is a local favorite here in the Cache Valley. If you choose to eat here, your dining experience will be accompanied by the unique atmosphere, the antique soda fountain and the hand made chocolates.

Whittier Center

The Whittier Center was built in 1908 and served as a school house for many years. It is one of the last schools built in Utah during that era that is still standing. Although it is no longer a school house, there are still plenty of activities that take place here (Comedy shows, dances, wedding receptions and more).

Logan LDS Tabernacle

This building is one of the first buildings you will see while driving down historic main street. The Tabernacle was built in 1891 and has served as a meeting house ever since. This building is open to the public and visiting it makes for a very neat experience.

Logan LDS Temple

The Logan LDS temple played a unique role in Utah's early history and helped bring many settlers into the Cache Valley. With its completion in 1884, it became the second operating LDS temple and is still in use to this day. If you have some free time, go enjoy the great views from the temple grounds and take a closer look at this incredible historical landmark.

Historic Cache County Courthouse

The Cache County Courthouse was built in 1883 and also plays a unique role in the early history of the Cache Valley. Since there are free guided tours through the courthouse, we won't tell you much more about it here.

19th Century Mansions on Center Street

If you choose to drive down Center Street, you will find yourself surrounded by many mansions that were built in the 19th century. Each of these homes tells its own story through its architecture and style.

Old Main

Old Main was built back in 1889 and was the first building on campus of the Agricultural College of Utah, which is now Utah State University. Old Main is the oldest academic building still in use in the state of Utah. Oh, and we recommend taking an oxygen mask if you plan on hiking up Old Main Hill!

These are just a few of the more popular historical sites in the Cache Valley that we think you would find interesting. If you have anything else that you would like to see added to this list please let us know! In the meantime, happy touring!
